You will walk through the ancient saline basins that form one of the most extended present day wetlands in Europe. Among the reeds, fresh water basins alternate with salt water ones, separated by a thin strip of land called an “Is Arenas”. It is an ecosystem full of life that attracts many migratory birds. Here, the rare pink flamingos nest. Observe them making a future for their own, a real show of nature. You will be enchanted by the choreography of these fluffy pink clouds that admire themselves in the reflective golden water basins.
White and blue are the colours of Poetto that, with its eight kilometres, represents one of the most extended sand beaches in Italy. Once you park your bike, a walk on the sand will give you a wonderful view of the pure white expanse of the bay. Fill up on sea air while your touring guide tells you about the myths and legends related to the Sella del Diavolo (Devil’s Saddle), the promontory that encloses the beach to the South.
