This tour lets you discover the traditions and foods of Palermo.
You will begin by visiting two of the most famous food markets in Palermo, Ballarò and the Capo Market. A show of abundance, where food triumphs like the vivid colours of a still life. Meat, fish, vegetables, nuts, street food, chickpea fritters, fresh bread, and calzoni…a theatrical show embellished by the cries of vendors offering free tastes. You’ll want to try everything, but if faced with one choice, have a traditional cannolo; an embrace between a luxurious crunchy shell and sweet ricotta. A feast for the senses, an appreciation of rich flavours.
Intensity and traditions will be path to your next stop: the International Puppets Museum, known as “pupi” in Sicilian. Brought to life by master puppeteers, these wood and wire creations give voice to an ancient folklore, as ancient as the poems they recite. Through inventive backdrops and scenography, these puppets recount the history of Palermo through its myths and true tales.
