You’ll begin your guided tour with a pleasant stroll through the historic city center.
The first stop will be the church of San Frediano with its stunning mosaic of Christ in Majesty. From here, you’ll reach the nearby Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, the most beautiful square of Lucca, taking its name and shape from the rests of the Ancient Roman arena. You’ll be walking along via Filungo, with its beautiful shops, and after a detour across the narrow medieval alleys, you’ll arrive to the Cathedral of San Martino, home to the famous Holy Face of Lucca and the splendid monument to Ilaria del Carretto, marble masterpiece by Jacopo della Quercia. From Piazza Napoleone you’ll finally arrive to Piazza San Michele, center of the community ever since Ancient Rome.
Your visit of Lucca will end with a stop at the famous Giunigi Tower, and with a tasting of Lucca’s traditional cake, the Buccellato.
